New fiber optic cable will be rolled out in Dundas, North America-USA

Dundas will not get left behind when telecommunications company Jaguar Communications rolls their fiber optic cable through town.


Jaguar, an Owatonna-based company, has received several large grants from the federal government to bring fiber optic telecommunications to rural regions of Southern Minnesota. Jaguar can offer fiber optic services, which include high speed cable to both large commercial customers and smaller customers, like individual homes."This is a great chance for Dundas to be able to offer fiber optic cable to future business people and residents," said John McCarthy, city administrator.

Originally, Dundas was just an area Jaguar planned to lay cable through, but not service. "But the city approached them and requested that we get the cable as well," said McCarthy. Ric Hanson, director of new business for Jaguar is excited about bring fiber services to Dundas. "We'll be serving high speed internet, telephone, and video to the area," said Hanson. "These services make Dundas competitive, they're a great economic separator between Dundas and nearby communities."

Jaguar received a building permit from the city of Dundas for an operations hut that will sit at the West end of Schilling Park. "There is a small possibility that some citizens will have service by the end of the year," said McCarthy. "A small possibility."
